Educational programmes for 2025-26
John James, through the Dawn James Charitable Foundation, made his first donation to a Bristol school in 1966 and started funding enrichment opportunities for children and young people from 1982. Our educational strategy builds on his original objectives taking account of today's educational landscape.
Primary

Our current aims and objectives for pre-school and primary aged children are:
-
to reduce the impact of disadvantage on pupil outcomes by providing opportunities they would otherwise miss out on - find out about our programmes with We the Curious and Lifeskills
-
to promote healthy lifestyles by providing access to outdoor play equipment and facilities that encourage physical activity, social interaction and creative play
Secondary

For secondary aged children and young people, our focus is on helping to improve educational outcomes for disadvantaged pupils. We provide:
-
direct grants to Secondary Schools for initiatives that develop cultural capital, develop confidence and raise aspirations
-
additional support for High Prior Attainers to enable them to achieve their potential
