out of the £1 million pledged has been given to
Gympanzees
towards the creation of the UK’s first, fully accessible and inclusive, exercise and play facility for children and young people aged 0 - 25 which is be based at Aust.​​​ The centre is due to open in 2026.​​
Inspiring young people to realise their full potential
£60,000
has been paid to
Empire Fighting Chance
towards the expansion of The Mill. The new facilities means that even more vulnerable young people can receive vital support, mentoring, workshops and therapeutic services .

Providing critical care and air ambulance services
£100,000
has been given to
Great Western Air Ambulance
to expand and improve the facilities at the Mission Support Center, which plays a vital role in coordinating and providing emergency medical services to people experiencing life-changing illness or injury.​​​​​

Bringing a heritage asset back into community use

has been paid towards
the renovation and reimagination of
Jacobs Wells Baths
which will become a dynamic cultural and creative powerhouse in the City - a cultural space for performance and artform development.

Free, practical advice and guidance

has been paid towards the core costs of
Citizens Advice Bristol
who provide free, confidential and impartial advice to help people resolve practical problems affecting their lives. Last year, they helped over 5,400 people with issues ranging from benefits & debt to housing & employment.

Ensuring vulnerable communities don't go hungry

Fareshare South West​
towards core operational costs of sharing surplus food with vulnerable communities and supporting disadvantaged young people to gain meaningful work experience. The total paid to date is now over £500,000.
Achieving our aims
Improving facilities & enhancing the wellbeing of local communities
£118,000 awarded towards running costs and volunteer programmes at community centres, city farms and other community spaces
Grants awarded to 10 community centres or sports facilities towards improved accessability and other capital enhancements
£52,000 awarded to organisations providing support and wellbeing to asylum seekers and refugees
Improving resilience and outcomes for vulnerable people, including children
£80,000 awarded to charities working with vulnerable children & young people helping to improve their life chances
8 organisations supported whose aims are to reduce financial and food poverty
£164,000 awarded to organisations supporting vulnerable adults including the rehabilitation of ex-offenders, those involved in sex work & people recovering from addiction or experiencing homelessness
Supporting children and young people to live active and healthy lives
£140,000 of grants awarded to various sports organisations and youth centres to provide events and activities that encourage active lives
23 secondary & primary schools were given funding for new or improved outdoor play areas and equipment totalling £226,000
£20,000 has been awarded to provide mobility equipment and wheelchair skills workshops for children with disabilities
Improving outcomes for children & young people, particularly those that are disadvantaged
In total, 33 schools and charities working with children and young people received grants totalling £261,000
Of this, £50,000 was given in respect of educational opportunities for children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and £54,000 was given to organisations which empower NEET young people to gain the skills and confidence to enter employment or further education
Supporting those affected by life limiting health conditions
£180,000 has been awarded to charities that support people and families experiencing life limiting illnesses and bereavement
In total, 15 organisations received grants which funded activities including hospice care, counselling, and information & practical support services
Reducing social isolation & supporting independent living
6,000 older people attended a christmas and summer party organised by 115 groups and
1,340 went to the theatre for free
14 organisations have been awarded funding to provide equipment, or activities that help the elderly or disabled to lead independent lives
£18,000 has been spent on supported living or alterations so that people can remain at home.
