Young Carers Development Trust

Young Carers Activities report - Carers Support Centre (002)_edited.jpg

The Young Carers Development Trust is a registered charity which tackles the lack of opportunity experienced by many young carers due to their caring responsibilities. Many of these young people miss school days regularly and have little opportunity for extra curricular activities because of their caring roles.

John James Bristol Foundation is a regular supporter of the charity and last year awarded a grant of £10,000 to provide an
amazing 158 respite breaks for young carers in Bristol.
The respite breaks offer an opportunity to learn new skills, increased young carers confidence and gives them a chance to relax. Building new peer support networks and friendships with other local young carers means that they become better supported and less isolated too.

One of our main goals as a Foundation, is to help improve the outcome of disadvantage young people in Bristol and to encourage them to meet their full potential.
