JumpStart Food & Fitness

JumpStart runs weekly nutrition and fitness sessions for families living in tower blocks in five of the most socio-economic deprived areas in Bristol.

John James Bristol Foundation awarded funding so that the charity could run games, activities and challenges to help tackle the serious health issues that result from health inequalities. Many of these children live in damp and cramped flats with little access to outside space. The weekly programmes help to combat mental health issues and teach essential life skills.

Once a month there is also a “Big Dinnertime” event where children and their families prepare, cook and eat a tasty, healthy meal together outside helping to improve diets which are impacted by low incomes and food insecurity.

JumpStart Kids project welcomes between 40 and 75 children and young people each week and impacts a further 400 residents helping to create safer, more resilient, communities.
