Grief Encounter

Grief Encounter's mission is to give every child and young person access to the best possible support following the death of someone close. They work closely with individuals, families, schools and health professionals to offer a way through the paralysing anxiety, fear and isolation so often caused by grief.

The Foundation has supported the important work of Grief Encounter with an annual grant of £5,000 for the past 5 years.
Each year the grant funds 50 specialist one-to-one counselling sessions or 100 grieftalk contacts, giving bereaved children and families from Bristol the essential professional bereavement support they need.
Without this support children and young people can suffer the long-lasting negative impacts into adult life resulting in depression, low participation in education, risk of suicide, relationship and mental health problems. One of the aims of John James Bristol Foundation is to help improve the outcomes of vulnerable children and young people so that they can lead more productive lives.
