Empire Fighting Chance uses powerful psychologically informed non-contact boxing and intensive personal support to challenge and inspire young people aged 8 to 25 to realise their unique potential. The programmes reach 10,000 vulnerable and at risk young people across Bristol.

John James Bristol Foundation has given a substantial grant to facilitate the expansion of the headquarters, The Mill in Easton.

The Mill has been rooted in the community for over 40 years and has always been more than a boxing gym. It’s a safe and inspiring space where young people can connect with the Coaches who understand them and find the confidence to build a better future.

Demand is at an all-time high and the expansion will provide the room needed to help even more young people facing mental health struggles, gang involvement, and other barriers to a brighter future.

The build is on track for completion Autumn 2025 and includes a small boxing ring for quieter more therapeutic sessions, learning and career spaces, flexible rooms for mentoring, training and community use. We have also provided additional funding to install the Empire Kitchen which will be used to provide nutrition education and hospitality careers skills.​​​​
