Southmead Development Trust are a local charity dedicated to supporting residents from the most socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds to improve their confidence, health and wellbeing.

John James Bristol Foundation has awarded £10,000 towards the running costs of the 'Neighbours Connect' programme which supports older people and disabled people in Southmead. Almost 310 residents will be supported through this life-changing befriending and life planning service which is led by a qualified Occupational Therapist and trained volunteer team. The aim is to reduce loneliness, isolation and poor mental or physical health. The service helps people to build confidence, improve wellbeing and strengthen community connections. ​
