Borderlands

Welcome meeting at Borderlands refugee charity

Borderlands is a Bristol based charity supporting refugees, asylum seekers, and those with insecure immigration status.

The Foundation has awarded Borderlands with an annual grant for the past decade. The grant goes towards the running costs of the Welcome Centre - a safe, trusted, and well-known space for asylum seekers and refugees to get food and support, make friends and establish belonging in their new home in Bristol. The Welcome Centre is based at the Assisi Centre in Easton, in one of Bristol's most diverse and disadvantaged areas, and is open 2 days a week.

In 2025-26, the Welcome Centre supported over 981 asylum seekers and refugees, including welcoming 321 new arrivals. They supported around 150 individuals and their families with food provision each week. The Spring 2026 survey showed that 100% said they feel part of Borderlands community, 82% felt more confident and independent, 86% had improved their English, 63% said Borderlands had helped them a lot during difficult times. 96% would recommend Borderland to people they know.

We are proud to give our support to a local charity improving the wellbeing and life chances for those seeking refuge in our city.
