46,000 children will benefit over the lifetime of the play schemes

John James Bristol Foundation understands that outdoor play is crucial for children's physical and mental well-being. It encourages creativity, helps develop problem-solving and resilience skills and can provide an opportunity to expose children to nature. That is why we invited primary schools from Bristol to submit applications for capital grants to improve their outdoor play spaces as our main educational initiative for 2025.

Schemes will be in place by September 2025 when the children return to school after their summer break, or earlier. The projects include new and rejuvenated play spaces, improved or new Forest schools provision, play equipment and outdoor classrooms. Each were selected based on need, as well as educational and developmental merits.
