John James Bristol Foundation understands that outdoor play is crucial for children's physical and mental well-being. It encourages creativity, helps develop problem-solving and resilience skills and can provide an opportunity to expose children to nature. That is why we invited primary schools from Bristol to submit applications for capital grants to improve their outdoor play spaces as our main educational initiative for 2025.

All of the schemes will be in place by September 2025 when the children return to school after their summer break or earlier, in the case of new play equipment. The projects including schemes for new and rejuvenated play spaces, improved or new Forest schools provision and outdoor classrooms, were selected based on need, as well as educational and developmental merits.
Details about further capital grant opportunities for schools will be posted on our website. Please note we will only consider requests during the stated time frame.
