John James Bristol foundation has supported NSPCC Childline in Bristol since 1999. This year, we have provided funding so that the NSPCC Schools Service can take their 'Speak out Stay safe' programme directly into primary schools across the City, reaching over 36,000 pupils. 'Speak out Stay safe' is a safeguarding progamme that provides children with the knowledge and understanding they need to stay safe from abuse and neglect, and gives them a voice enabling them to speak out. The programme is delivered in a sensitive and informative manner which sometimes results in disclosures being made right away.

In Bristol last year there were 912 sexual offences recorded against children under the age of 16. 417 children were awarded child protection plans and 946 children were taken into care. NSPCC School Service Bristol is there to help stop child abuse and neglect by empowering the young victims to recognise their situation and to speak out.
