Group outings

Corfe village painting by elderly art group participant

Sometimes, clubs prefer to organise a trip for members, rather than a party, and the Foundation will contribute towards the costs.

A recent example is Whitchurch Art Club, a 'not for profit' social club with a membership of 30, mostly from BS14, with an age range 60 to 90. The Club puts on regular events such as a twice yearly Art Exhibition and Christmas Art Fayre as well as bi-monthly art demonstrations and workshops, sometimes hosted by professional artists.

Once a year, members of the Art Club go on an outing with their friends and families and in 2024, the Foundation made a donation towards the costs. The day out to Swanage included a ride on the Heritage Railway, which produced much excitement with members reminiscing about stream train rides from their childhood, and a visit to Corfe Castle. The trip was used as inspiration for the group's next art workshop gathering.
