St Cuthbert's Church

St Cuthbert's Church has been a place of Christian worship and community for the people in Brislington for almost 100 years. Today, whilst there has been a decline in regular worshippers, there is potential for greater use by the community.
The Foundation awarded a capital grant towards the refurbishment and new layout of the Church and its Crypt. The new layout and facilities opens up St Cuthbert's to many more community groups and organisations that need suitable spaces in Brislington West. The project has balanced the need to maintain the architectural integrity of the interior of the church with the need for appropriate flexible use spaces. The works provide better access for all including a kitchen with a cafe style group space, a new heating system, and new accessible toilet facilities.
A community survey identified the need for a wide variety of activities in the area, including neighbourhood drop-in sessions, Zumba/Pilates, Brownies/Beavers, older people's clubs, pre-school activities, live music, arts/crafts workshops and much more. St Cuthbert's Church now provides the setting in which more of these events can take place.
