One25
01.02.2012One25 reaches out to women trapped in street sex-work in Bristol, helping them to break free and build new lives away from violence, poverty and addiction. Most of the 204 women they support on the streets are homeless, deeply traumatised from childhood and adult abuse and addicted to drugs or alcohol with the result that their safety and health is often neglected. One25 gives the women the intensive support needed to step away from Bristol's streets. This support may be either crisis support on their night van or an afternoon at the drop-in or permanent one-to-one help from a caseworker. The van goes onto the streets five nights per week offering nutritious food and drinks, personal alarms and a chance to talk and get advice in a safe environment. From here women are signposted to One25's caseworkers and the drop in centre in St Pauls.
The Foundation recently awarded £3,000 towards One25's work in Bristol.
